Schwerin (dpa / mv) - There will hardly be any further corona easing for the economy - except for those for the hairdressing salons - in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania for the time being.

This was announced by Prime Minister Manuela Schwesig (SPD) on Friday evening in Schwerin after discussions with municipalities, unions and social associations.

Driving schools in the state should therefore be able to reopen on March 1, but initially only for learner drivers who need this for vocational training.

Schwesig said the corona incidence would have to be stable below 35 for further easing.

On Friday, that value was around 66 nationwide.

Hairdressers may, as provided for in the federal and state resolution, open on March 1st subject to hygiene requirements.

Schwesig hopes that this is also possible in the Vorpommern-Greifswald district, which has by far the highest number of infections in a nationwide comparison.

This should be discussed with the district on February 22nd.

According to Schwesig, on February 24th, the state government wants to discuss further possible openings with representatives from business and municipalities;

in the hope that the number of infections will continue to fall by then.

Then more easing would be possible.
