Berlin (dpa) - Federal Minister of Health Jens Spahn (CDU) expects the Corona vaccination campaign to reach its first goal and that all nursing home residents will be offered a vaccination by mid-February.

A total of three percent of people in Germany have now been vaccinated - around six weeks after the start of the vaccination - 1.5 percent of them with the necessary second vaccination, said Spahn.
5.7 million vaccine doses were therefore delivered.
By the end of next week it should be 8 million.
Among the approximately 800,000 residents, more than 80 percent received the first vaccination and over 50 percent also received the second vaccination, said Spahn.

"Since not 100 percent accept the offer, our goal is to have made the offer easy for all residents around mid-February," said Spahn.
"That makes it clear how the vaccination campaign is now gaining momentum step by step, week after week."
According to Spahn, 120,000 to 130,000 vaccinations are carried out daily in the vaccination centers of the federal states.
According to the current status, the centers could currently provide up to 250,000.
According to a list by the ministry, however, due to the planned deliveries in the second quarter, an average of 698,000 vaccinations per day could be possible.
This forecast announced on Wednesday comes from an institute of the National Association of Statutory Health Insurance Physicians (KBV).
Spahn said the inquiry was being made with the federal states as to whether capacities could be increased through extended opening times.
