- Unsuitable persons should not be allowed to handle explosive goods, says Minister of the Interior Mikael Damberg at a press conference.

The purpose is to prevent explosives from ending up in criminals and thereby reduce criminal explosions in society.

Last year, 215 criminal explosions were reported to the police.

It can be compared with 257 in 2019 and 162 in 2018.

The bill means that suitability testing must be done, not only by the person applying for a permit and by the director, ie the person responsible for the handling of explosives.

Subjects who handle the explosives must also be tested for suitability.

Coming into force this summer

According to Mikael Damberg, the aptitude tests will also be made more frequent than today.

It should also be easier to revoke permits and it should also be easier to revoke them.

The tightening of the law will take effect from 1 August this year.

They also want to introduce increased requirements for how explosives are stored

If it is a company that is applying for a permit, the suitability test must be performed on the persons who have significant influence over the company, such as the CEO and board members.
