Hanover (dpa / lni) - After days of snow and slippery chaos on the highways in Lower Saxony, the situation calmed down on Thursday.

"In contrast to yesterday, it looks much more relaxed today," said a spokesman for the Braunschweig motorway police in the morning.

Although it could still be slippery in places on Autobahn 2, overall traffic flows without major incidents.

The areas around the rest stops alone are a problem.

The parking lots are often not cleared of snow.

Therefore, truck drivers had to park in places on the hard shoulder of the motorway in order to observe their rest times.

It looked similar in the Hanover area.

Here too, the biggest problem is the lack of space in the parking lots, said a spokeswoman for the Garbsen motorway police.

During the night, some heavy goods vehicles had to move to smaller rest stops.

In the rest of Lower Saxony, there were no special incidents on the streets, according to the police control centers.
