According to the investigation carried out by the Health and Medical Care Responsibility Committee, in 2016 the doctor performed a tummy tuck operation at a clinic in Stockholm.

The operation caused pain, infections, bleeding shock, circulatory failure and skin necrosis in the patient.

After the patient reported the doctor to the Swedish Health and Care Inspectorate, IVO, charges were brought against him, and in March 2020, Stockholm District Court sentenced the doctor for grievous bodily harm and illness to a suspended sentence with community service, which according to the district court's sentence corresponds to five months imprisonment. had been chosen.

In 2020, further complaints came from three care providers who had cared for patients after they had undergone operations by him at his Södertälje clinic.

Two of the care providers refer to the same patients who submitted the report.

It also appears from the responsible committee's investigation that the patients who had undergone obesity surgery had complications such as fluid in the lungs and abdomen, severe infection and small bowel injuries.

A 39-year-old patient had to undergo emergency surgery at Karolinska Huddinge, where they were forced to remove their entire stomach.

A 34-year-old patient became so ill after the procedure that he was taken by helicopter to the Academic Hospital, where he received intensive care.

The ID is revoked

On October 2, 2020, IVO notified the doctor to the responsible committee to revoke his identification as a doctor.

And now the Health and Medical Services' responsibility committee has decided to withdraw the doctor's ID while waiting for a final examination.

The clinic was closed and operations were banned

During September 2020, the doctor's clinic in Södertälje was forced to close due to a lack of a building permit and the premises were not fireproof.

In October 2020, IVO decided to ban the operation due to, among other things, lack of hygiene, serious deficiencies in staff competence and deficiencies in the monitoring of remaining patients.
