Some have not set foot in class since October, and yet they had to continue to pay for their public transport subscription.

This Thursday, Nantes Métropole announced that it would make a gesture for the students, many of whom find themselves in great precariousness with the coronavirus epidemic.

It has decided to facilitate the termination of annual subscriptions for those who so wish, an operation in principle possible only after eight months of engagement.

"A simple email will suffice to be able to terminate or switch to the tailor-made offer," indicates Johanna Rolland, the mayor of Nantes.

A measure expected by those who returned to live with their parents in another city for example.

"For students who wish to see their monthly budget reduced by 22.40 euros (price of the unlimited TAN subscription for young people under 26), the procedure must be carried out with the TAN, until March 15.

However, no retroactive effect is foreseen.

Solidarity pricing

The town hall takes the opportunity to remind students of the existence of solidarity pricing, which can be more advantageous in certain cases.

"The level of the family quotient of the student or of his family, wherever he resides in France, determines the price of the subscription, ranging from free to 50% of the price of the full price subscription", indicates the town hall.

At the same time, Johanna Rolland reports having called on the government for “emergency aid to be put in place at the national level”.
