Five people are to be tried on June 3 by the Paris Criminal Court for "moral harassment" and, for two of them, "death threats" against Mila, a teenager from Isère who had published, on Instagram, a video against Islam, said Thursday, February 11, the prosecution.

The five people, aged 18 to 29, were arrested Tuesday in Loire-Atlantique, Moselle, Calvados, Marne and Hauts-de-Seine, by the local police and gendarmerie.

The operation was placed under the operational coordination of the Hate Crimes Division of the Central Office for Combating Crimes Against Humanity, Genocide, War Crimes and Hate Crimes (OCLCH).

At the end of their police custody, they were presented to a prosecutor from the brand new national anti-hate online pole of the Paris prosecutor's office, intended to centralize the investigations to be carried out in different regions of France.

They were then placed under judicial control by a judge of freedoms and detention, pending trial, said the prosecution.

Among those implicated are "students", "not politicized", some of whom say "they are not aware of the seriousness of their words and their messages", a source close to the matter told AFP on the day. arrests.

Mila, a young girl who will soon celebrate her 18th birthday, had aroused violent reactions, sometimes accompanied by death threats, by posting in November on the social network TikTok a new video in which she sharply attacked her detractors.

The teenager had shared on Twitter screenshots of the death threats received, some referring to the assassination of Professor Samuel Paty in October 2020 in the Yvelines.

The prosecutor's office in Vienne (Isère), which opened an investigation in mid-November, gave up in early December in favor of the national center for the fight against online hatred.

A high school student in Villefontaine (Isère), Mila was forced to leave her school after having published in January 2020 a first video that went viral in which she was vehemently critical of Islam.

Two people have already been sentenced last year to prison terms for death threats against the girl.

Others are indicted in the investigation into the death threats of January 2020 and the dissemination of his contact details.
