Berlin (dpa) - The hospitality industry, medium-sized businesses and the real estate industry have shown themselves to be deeply disappointed with the latest federal and state resolutions to contain the corona virus.

Ingrid Hartges, General Manager of the German Hotel and Restaurant Association (Dehoga), told the dpa that there is still no opening perspective: "The fact that hotels and restaurants are not mentioned in the present resolution triggers frustration and despair in the industry."

The Federal Association of Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises (BVMW) commented: "The corona summit is further evidence of the non-binding nature of politics and the peak of disappointments for medium-sized businesses."

The Central Real Estate Committee (ZIA), the umbrella organization for the real estate industry, criticized that there was still no prospect of opening up trade.

“Every day lockdown costs 1.5 billion euros in retail alone.

The consequences are and will be dramatic.

It's about the existence of entire inner cities, ”said ZIA President Andreas Mattner of the dpa.

The currently applicable measures to combat the corona pandemic will generally be extended until March 7th.

Chancellor Angela Merkel (CDU) and the heads of state of the federal states agreed on this on Wednesday.

This means that hotels and bars, for example, will remain closed.

Should the so-called seven-day incidence - i.e. the number of new infections per 100,000 inhabitants within a week - have fallen steadily below 35 by then, the restrictions should be gradually relaxed by the countries, for example in the retail sector.

Dehoga General Manager Ingrid Hartges said: “We didn't expect a specific opening date, but definitely with a statement as to when and under what conditions hotels and restaurants will be able to receive guests again.

We had expected clear prospects for our industry, which is extremely important for the quality of life of our fellow citizens as well as the attractiveness of the city centers and the regions. "

The catering and hotel industry created a good 300,000 new jobs subject to social security contributions in Germany between 2010 and 2019.

"Our operations were closed on November 2nd and will be closed for a total of six months at the end of February, including the lockdown in spring 2020."

The industry expects a coordinated timetable for the restart of the hospitality industry at the latest at the next federal and state consultations on March 3rd.

Hartges: “The health of our guests and employees is our top priority.

We support all the necessary measures to combat the pandemic, but we expect that these are well founded, understandable and proportionate in the legal sense. "

BVMW Federal Managing Director Markus Jerger criticized the fact that there was still a lack of a binding timetable for the “lockoff” of the economy, as well as an economic summit with experts from medium-sized companies, the trade unions and politics.

"The rulers are once again accepting the bankruptcy and the loss of existence of hundreds of thousands of companies and their employees and robbing them of future prospects," said Jerger of the dpa.

"Again the federal government is putting off small and medium-sized businesses with non-binding promises and leaves them begging on the drip of bridging aid .."
