Augsburg (dpa / lby) - In Augsburg, a drunk tried to light several pumps at a gas station.

An employee prevented a possible fire or explosion by acting quickly, the police announced on Thursday.

The man was noticeably under the influence of alcohol, it was said.

On Wednesday evening, the 26-year-old had insulted young people at the gas station and sprayed them with a fire extinguisher.

After the young people drove him away, he returned with a lighter and tried to set a gas pump on fire.

An employee of the gas station saw the man and switched off the conveyor system.

The 26-year-old then tried to light more fuel pumps.

The police finally arrested the man.

According to the information, an investigating judge issued an arrest warrant on the basis of the urgent suspicion of the insult, the impairment of accident prevention and emergency aid and the attempted serious arson.
