Magdeburg (dpa / sa) - Parallel to the gradual opening of the schools, Saxony-Anhalt will also be opening daycare centers and after-school care centers again from March.

The daycare centers would then switch to restricted regular operations, said Minister of Social Affairs Petra Grimm-Benne (SPD) on Thursday after a cabinet meeting.

According to this, the children should be cared for in fixed groups, as in some cases in the previous year, and if possible always by the same educators.

In Saxony-Anhalt schools and daycare centers have been in emergency operation since mid-December.

Since then, only children of parents who cannot work at home have been cared for.

In the new state regulation, which is due to come into force on Monday, this right should also be granted to children of students who are currently preparing for exams.

So far they have not been entitled to emergency care.
