Arnaud Boissières crossed the finish line of the Vendée Globe on Thursday morning off Les Sables d'Olonne in fifteenth position after 94 days at sea, completing his fourth single-handed round the world in a row, an unprecedented performance in the history of the race.

The Sablais sailor, at the helm of his monohull built 14 years ago (La Mie Câline - Artisans Artipôle), took 94 days and 18 hours to complete his fourth Vendée Globe, won by his friend Yannick Bestaven (Maître Coq IV) January 28 in 80 days and 3 hours.

Boissières is the first skipper to go on and finish four Vendée Globe in a row, in as many participations.

Jean Le Cam (Yes We Cam), who arrived on January 28, finished his fourth Vendée Globe (for five participations) but not consecutively.

The 48-year-old skipper, who grew up in the Arcachon basin, cut the line Thursday morning in freezing cold and will return to port after having taken the channel in the afternoon due to the tide hours.
