Frankfurt (dpa / lhe) - A 78-year-old died after the knife attack in the Frankfurt train station district with four victims.
As the prosecutor announced on Thursday, the man died on Wednesday, around two weeks after the attack.
"The Frankfurt criminal police and the Frankfurt am Main public prosecutor's office are now investigating one case on suspicion of murder, in two cases on suspicion of attempted murder and in one case on suspicion of attempted manslaughter," it said.
The 42-year-old suspect is still in a psychiatric facility.
The man reportedly attacked and injured several people on the street with a knife at the end of January.
Three victims were hospitalized seriously injured.
A 40-year-old suffered minor injuries.
The police were able to arrest the alleged perpetrator with knife in hand.
The investigation continues.
