"Kommersant": retailers began to have difficulties with the supply of bananas from Ecuador

It is noted that market participants expect the situation to normalize by April.

The interlocutor of the edition in the retail market of foodstuffs stated that importers cannot provide the necessary volumes of supplies.

Also, according to him, the wholesale prices for bananas for the year increased from 60 rubles to about 82 rubles.

The newspaper's source in the federal network confirmed the lack of bananas on the market and the increase in wholesale prices.

He expects the situation to improve within a few weeks. 

According to statistics in the database of the Federal Customs Service, in the IV quarter of 2020, the import of fresh bananas to Russia decreased by about 3.6%, to 391.2 thousand tons year-on-year.

Earlier, Russian leader Vladimir Putin, at a meeting with the head of the Ministry of Economic Development Maxim Reshetnikov, announced the deteriorating situation in the global food market.

The record rise in prices for a number of goods in the world has led to an increase in the price of some products in Russia.
