After a false claim, AfD parliamentary group leader Alice Weidel apologized to the city of Überlingen, also publicly on Twitter.

“I was the victim of a hiking legend.

Of course I will not repeat the wrong story, ”she said on Wednesday.

She continued: “Sorry, dear employees of the public order office, you are doing a great job.

Thank you!"

According to the city, in a speech in Schwäbisch Gmünd at the end of January, Weidel accused the regulatory office of the Lake Constance city of provoking corona violations in order to subsequently sanction them.

An employee is said to have deliberately allowed himself to be served in a bakery without a face mask in order to collect a fine of 2500 euros from the saleswoman.

However, the claims turned out to be false.

Weidel had already apologized to the city for this.

However, the city had demanded a cease and desist declaration, as reported by several media outlets - among other things because, from the city's point of view, Weidel had not apologized publicly on its Twitter channel, as it had announced.

The city will adhere to this after legal advice, "in order to rule out such false claims for the future," as the city announced on request.
