February 10, 2021 Former US President Donald Trump has been removed from Twitter with a "

permanent

"

ban

, and will not be able to create an account on the platform even if he were to reapply.

This was stated by the CFO, - financial director - of Twitter Ned Segal interviewed by Cnbc.

"Once you are removed from the platform, you are removed from the platform," Segal said.

'' Remember that our policy is to ensure that incitement to violence is not allowed, '' he added.

"The way our policies work, when you're removed from the platform, you're removed from the platform whether you're a commentator, you're a CFO or you are a former or current public official," says $ TWTR CFO @nedsegal on if President Trump's account could be restored.

The permanent suspension of the then outgoing president's account was decided by the social media in January, following the assault on Capitol Hill.

This is the most extreme 'sanction' foreseen by Twitter's policy, and there is no going back.

The interview with Cnbc concerns the quarterly data of the platform: Twitter reported that it recorded above-average growth in the period, despite "unusual circumstances".

While Twitter did not explicitly say what the "unusual circumstances" were, it is likely the reference is to the suspension and then exclusion of President Trump on January 8, after he continued to post messages encouraging the January 6 assault.

Twitter also banned thousands of accounts linked to the Qanon movement in the same weeks.
