Nuremberg (dpa / lby) - The CEO of Spielwarenmesse eG, Ernst Kick, assumes that the international trade fair for the toy industry can take place in Nuremberg in the summer.

"We are currently making preparations for the Spielwarenmesse 2021 Summer Edition from July 20 to 24," said Kick before an online conference of the Nuremberg Press Club on Wednesday evening.

Always keep an eye on the current global situation.

"The exhibitors, trade visitors, buyers and media representatives are very much looking forward to experiencing Nuremberg in the warm season," explained Kick.

New ideas will be implemented "in order to offer them a nice live experience in summer".

The toy fair traditionally took place at the beginning of the year, mostly in February.

Last year, 3,000 exhibitors from 70 countries and over 60,000 trade visitors took part in the Nuremberg Exhibition Center.

The fair is the largest meeting place for the toy industry worldwide.

The fair management announced last autumn that they wanted to move the Spielwarenmesse 2021 to summer.

“Because we are still of the opinion that trade fairs are indispensable for personal exchange,” emphasized Kick on Wednesday.

The industry has so far benefited from the Corona crisis because people have been looking for work for the whole family at home.

According to Kick, especially the areas of games and puzzles were in high demand.

But manufacturers of activity toys and outdoor items also scored points and posted sales growth.
