Every year, Skol IF in Nyköping engages hundreds of young people in various activities, ranging from evening tournaments in sports halls to bus trips to ski resorts.

Until now, the business has been largely financed by government grants.

But after a rule change, the money now disappears and therefore a campaign has been started to save the association.

Had SEK 800,000

Since Skol IF's operations came to life a few years ago, a total of SEK 800,000 has been found thanks to a government grant.

But now the rules have been changed so that an association must have existed for at least two years to be eligible.

But in its current form, the association does not reach that and now it is forced to look for other solutions.

- In the worst case, we have to close down, but we aim for it not to be like that, says Berina Sehovic at Skol IF in Nyköping.

"Hope for more support"

The municipality of Nyköping has stepped in and quadrupled its support compared to before and the fund will now land at at least SEK 200,000.

But the management of Skol IF fears that the reduced budget will lead to an excessively stripped-down business.

- We hope for more support from the municipality so that we can really get an association for all young people, says Skol IF's Isak Björkeng.
