There is a causal relationship, or even a contributing one, between the presence of uncontrolled waste sites on the territory of the municipalities of the provinces of Naples and Caserta included in the so-called Terra dei Fuochi, and the onset of some pathologies, such as breast cancer , asthma, various forms of leukemia, congenital malformations.
The data, long awaited by citizens and committees, which until now was only a hypothesis of scientists, was confirmed by the final report of the work of the agreement that the Naples North Public Prosecutor's Office - the judicial office is based in Aversa (Caserta) - stipulated in June 2016 with the National Institute of Health.
The results of the report indicate, among other things, that mortality and incidence from breast cancer is significantly higher among women in the municipalities included in the third and fourth class of the waste exposure indicator (higher level of risk from waste ) compared to the municipalities of the first class, less impacted by waste.
