Mannheim (dpa / lsw) - According to a survey, companies are increasingly critical of the corona policy.

At the beginning of December, almost a third of the companies expressed their dissatisfaction with the state measures, as the University of Mannheim announced on Wednesday.

In mid-January, the proportion was almost 50 percent, according to the corona survey by the university's German Business Panel among more than 10,000 companies across Germany.

The proportion of satisfied companies fell to less than 20 percent during the period.

The development was not only due to the corona-related company closings, but also to "manual mistakes in politics," said Philipp Dörrenberg, holder of the chair for general business administration and taxation at the University of Mannheim.

The reason are unexpected administrative hurdles for obtaining government aid.

According to the survey, the share of dissatisfaction among companies that found it difficult to get the promised money is 36 percentage points higher than among others.

"The companies are annoyed because there is no predictability and no reliability," summarized Dörrenberg.

In addition, the researchers are assuming that German companies' profits will decline significantly.

In mid-December, the companies had expected stable profits thanks to government aid.

At the end of January, however, they forecast sales and profits falling by more than 20 percent compared to the same period last year.
