Kiel (dpa / lno) - For schools and daycare centers in Schleswig-Holstein, the first easing steps are emerging in the corona pandemic.

The state government wants to announce decisions on this after the Prime Minister's Conference, which will consult with Chancellor Angela Merkel (CDU) on Wednesday.

The state parliament will then deal with the situation in a special session on Thursday.

Prime Minister Daniel Günther (CDU) said on Tuesday, referring to the decline in the number of infections, that he considered cautious easing of corona protective measures to be possible and desirable in February.

He confirmed that the first, short-term opening steps should relate to schools and daycare centers.

This is not a question of whether, but of the exact time.

This should also be combined with tests by teachers and educators.

Günther expressly advocated nationwide uniform regulations.

He also expressed the expectation that the federal and state governments will agree on a perspective plan.

He felt signals from the federal and state governments that they wanted to achieve this.

The Jamaica coalition of the CDU, the Greens and the FDP wants to decide on how to proceed on Wednesday evening.

The current lockdown with largely closed schools, daycare centers, shops, restaurants and leisure facilities applies until Sunday.

It is eagerly awaited what the federal and state governments will decide for the time afterwards.

For the vast majority, an extension to March is expected.

Schleswig-Holstein's state government has drawn up a perspective plan for possible easing, which is based on the respective infection situation.

However, the seven-day incidences alone should not be decisive.

The utilization of intensive care capacities in clinics, the spread potential of the virus (number of reproductions), the occurrence of mutations and the vaccination rate should also play a role.

Günther said that he had noticed a lot of encouragement for the Kiel plan in the most recent meetings.

Green group leader Eka von Kalben supported the head of government's demands.

“I expect the Prime Ministers to agree on a nationwide step-by-step plan so that people can see the steps in which the drastic measures will be taken,” she said.

"This does not automatically mean just easing, but also possible closings again when the numbers rise."

The Greens had recently repeatedly warned against loosening too early.
