Berlin (dpa / bb) - If you call history or poetry - employees of the Tempelhof-Schöneberg City Library call people in February as part of a personal reading campaign and read them books according to their wishes.

Different groups have so far opted for the read-aloud call, said a library spokeswoman.

"Seniors are there, as are parents who book a reading time for their children, but also working adults who see the offer as an exciting alternative to audio books."

Most of the participants would either wish for a genre such as poetry, fairy tales or humor when registering, or would explicitly book the "surprise bag".

According to the spokeswoman, the free read-a -loud call lasting between five and 30 minutes is also open to people outside of the district.

The idea for reading aloud on the phone came to a library employee in the home office during the corona pandemic.

Until February 26th, the library fulfills requests for reading three times a week.
