Berlin / Mainz (dpa / lrs) - The corona lockdown is also to be extended in Rhineland-Palatinate until March 7th.

This was announced by the State Chancellery in Mainz following the video conference between the Prime Ministers and the Federal Chancellor on Wednesday evening.

Primary schools could open again beforehand, the state government said on Twitter.

"We start with the little ones in elementary school, for whom it is particularly difficult to cope with distance learning," said Prime Minister Malu Dreyer (SPD) of the German Press Agency.

"To keep the groups small, we will start alternating lessons."

As early as March 1st, the hairdressers should reopen under hygiene precautions.

After that, retailers and individual cultural institutions could follow, Dreyer said on Twitter, "when we have reached an incidence of 35 nationwide".

This still requires some effort, but "I am confident that we will make it".
