Just last week, 14 people died in avalanches in the United States, making it the deadliest week in over 100 years.

And 2020 looks to be a dark year in avalanche statistics.

Last year, a total of 23 people died according to the Colorado Avalanche Information Center and with two months left of the 2020 season, 21 people have already died in avalanches.
