10 February 2021 The Rome Prosecutor's Office ordered the direct summons to trial for Fabio Manganaro, the carabiniere accused of blindfolding Gabriele Natale Hjorth in the stages following the arrest for the murder of deputy brigadier Mario Cerciello Rega in July 2019



. accusation is of an extent not permitted by law, the trial will be held in front of a single judge. 



The American, on that July 26, 2019, had just been stopped and taken to the barracks in via In Selci in relation to the murder of deputy brigadier Mario Cerciello Rega.



Against Manganaro, the investigators of the Public Prosecutor's Office of Rome contest the offense of a rigor measure not permitted by law.

The case raised by the image of the handcuffed and blindfolded boy also calls into question another soldier, Silvio Pellegrini.

The Military Prosecutor proceeds against the latter.

He is accused of taking the picture and putting it in a chat.



In parallel, prosecutors asked for a trial for the former commander of the carabinieri station in piazza Farnese, Sandro Ottaviani.

He is accused of forgery because on the night of the crime he said he had received the service pistol from Andrea Varriale, colleague of the victim, in the emergency room of the Santo Spirito hospital.



On this point, it is recalled that Varriale subsequently admitted that he went unarmed to the appointment with the two Americans.
