The suspect is to be tried this Wednesday afternoon in immediate appearance before the Lyon court.

A 42-year-old homeless man was arrested earlier this week after causing a scandal in a church and being violent.

The man was drunk when he entered the Saint-Bonaventure church, located in the Cordeliers district of Lyon, police said.

He climbed on the altar while vociferating and attacked the sacristan, who had come to tell him to be more respectful of the places.

The SDF threatened him with death before he was arrested by agents, specifies the Sûreté du Rhône.

Placed in custody, the man denied the facts but did not convince the investigators.

Especially since his past did not plead in his favor.

The man was already "very unfavorably known" by the police, specifies the security of the Rhône.
