February 10, 2021 Love, love and only (or almost) love.

It seems to be the unwritten rule of the Sanremo festival which, as has not happened for some time, is dedicated almost exclusively to feelings (and to a certain classicism, even on the part of the youngest), in the 26 songs in the competition.

Despite the pandemic, despite the social distancing or, worse, the emotional one, despite the last twelve months that have upset our lives and which seem to interest artists little or nothing.

Despite, or perhaps because of it.

"Love is always a deeply felt topic - confirms Amadeus, who as artistic director had the difficult task of selecting the songs from the more than three hundred arrived - many songs were written during the lockdown, so obviously there was a great need of love. There is suffering, there is loneliness, but I cannot say if this is linked to the covid. In the choice I have not been influenced by the themes, rather I start from

a radio idea

. That is, I choose pieces that I think may be listen to yourself for as long as possible. I go to what strikes me most and excites me. Last year it worked ".

And also the fact that it is

a festival with young people

, with very few over 50s, it is not wanted at the table.

"The strongest things came to me from the boys, but this didn't stop me from having more musical genres. And if this time there are less rap and traps and more references to the past, it means that young people listen and rediscover the roots of Italian music" , adds the conductor who claims the decision to have brought to 26 the tracks in the competition, "also to give an extra signal of recovery in this year of total stop for music. Not compensation, and none from the record companies pressure, but psychologically I also thought about this and I estimated that an extra ten minutes of broadcast could be a sign of recovery ".

Love, therefore

.

The lost but never forgotten one by Aiello, the one that doesn't want to end and clings to the last times sung by Annalisa, the one that has nothing more to say to each other in the song written by Gigi D'Alessio for Arisa and the one that burns by Fasma (the unique to use autotune).

And then solid and lasting love, in the line of the most classic melody, sung by Orietta Berti ("I asked her to participate", Ama explains again).

Colapesce and Dimartino (among the most applauded by critics) bring a bit of lightness in the Baptist style, as do the Extraliscio with Davide Toffolo, thanks to which the Ariston will turn into a Romagna dance hall.

A sweet tale that of Fulminacci, as well as Gio Evan.

The Social State, Gaia in Elettra Lamborghini style, the rock of Maneskin, the rhythm of Irama, the feminine urban of Madame bring a breath of energy.

Winners announced

in a poke, Francesca Michielin and Fedez do not thrill, Francesco Renga and Coma_Cose are also not very effective.

To be discovered calmly Ermal Meta, The Representative of Lista, Ghemon and Malika Ayane, but also Noemi, after a human and professional journey that has changed her.

Random is a bit too reminiscent of Ultimo, while Bugo is ready for redemption after his exclusion a year ago - due to Morgan - with a catchy, radio-friendly rock ballad.

To call himself out of the fray of feelings, above all Willie Peyote (another who had the consent of the audience) who does not spare a criticism of mere entertainment in all fields, from art to politics.

And he, yes, that the reference to the pandemic places him between open stadiums and closed theaters: "this is the Italy of the future: a country of music while death is outside" (and moreover he enjoys citing the catchphrase Morgan - what's up? - last year).

And then Max Gazzè who, after the experiments of recent times, returns to the funny but intelligent nursery rhyme, between drugs that solve everything and cheap sorcerers.

Three weeks before the festival, meanwhile, a winner is already there: it is Dario Faini, aka Dardust, who signs five songs by the Big.

"He has a very strong stylistic code, and evidently many rely on him to have something more or different", is the explanation of Amadeus.
