Real Madrid temporarily trimmed the point gap that separates it from leaders Atlético Madrid thanks to its 2-0 win over Getafe on Tuesday in a postponed match from the first stage of the Spanish Football League.

At the Alfredo Di Stéfano Stadium, Real Madrid waited until the 60th minute to open the scoring by French striker Karim Benzema, and just 6 minutes later, the other Frenchman Ferland Mendy added the second goal.

The royal club recorded its 14th victory this season in exchange for 4 draws and 4 defeats.
