Bayreuth (dpa / lby) - The new managing director of the Bayreuth Festival firmly believes that the opera will return soon.

"I am convinced that we will find our way back to normal gaming operations, definitely in 2022," said Ulrich Jagels in an interview with the "Nordbayerischer Kurier" (Wednesday).

"I don't think that Corona will mean that the number of music theater companies will decrease," emphasized Jagels.

“The culture will continue to be very important, especially the live experience.

With all the progress that we are making with regard to digitization, it will be most important for people to come together and experience opera and concerts live.

The Bayreuth Festival should take place next summer with "as much audience as possible," said Jagels.

There is no fixed date for the decision about the game operation.

The hygiene concept has to be adapted to current conditions again and again.
