Sales of new cars in January in China have continued to recover, increasing by more than 29% compared to the same month last year, when sales fell sharply due to the impact of the new coronavirus.

On the other hand, production volume decreased from December due to the impact of global semiconductor shortage.

According to the announcement by the China Automobile Manufacturers Association, which is made by automobile manufacturers, the number of new cars sold in China in January was 2.53 million units, 29.5% higher than the same month last year.

Of these, passenger cars increased by 26.8% to 2,045,000 units, and commercial vehicles such as trucks increased by 43.1% to 458,000 units.

The reason for the large increase was that the number of units sold in January last year fell due to the spread of the new coronavirus infection, but the number of units sold increased compared to the adult and demand picked up amid the economic recovery. The strong sales situation continues.

On the other hand, production volume decreased by 15.9% compared to December due to the global shortage of semiconductors for automobiles.

A Chinese industry group has expressed concern that "the automobile industry continues to develop steadily, but the semiconductor shortage that has occurred since the end of the year will affect the global automobile industry for a certain period of time."
