Düsseldorf (dpa) - North Rhine-Westphalia's Prime Minister Armin Laschet has appealed to the federal government to pay out the corona aid as soon as possible.

In a special session of the Düsseldorf state parliament on how to deal with the pandemic, the CDU federal chairman did not spare criticism of the grand coalition.

Federal Economics Minister Peter Altmaier (CDU) and Finance Minister Olaf Scholz (SPD) got stuck with Bridging Aid III.

"And it took and took and took."

Laschet said that the prejudice that everything would get better if the federal government took it over had "once again turned out to be blatantly wrong".

"From November until the end of February nothing got on the chain."

Many applicants have not seen a penny to date.

"Bazooka announced - nothing came."

In the next few days the money must finally flow, “otherwise we will destroy livelihoods”.

This Wednesday, the federal and state governments will discuss how to proceed in the corona pandemic.

Laschet appealed to the citizens: "Let's go together again these last weeks in the race with the mutated virus."

He knows that this costs parents, teachers and educators "a lot of nerves and other strength".

But now the mutated virus should not be given a chance.
