Hamburg (dpa / lno) - Hamburg's red-green Senate rejects the relaxation of the corona requirements for the foreseeable future.

"The incidence is falling far too slowly, the R-value is too high and the risk of the virus mutations spreading more strongly remains," said Senate spokesman Marcel Schweitzer on Tuesday.

Against this background, “the Senate is sticking to its stance, we cannot currently hold out the prospect of easing”.

On Wednesday, Chancellor Angela Merkel (CDU) and the Prime Ministers of the federal states will again discuss how to proceed in the Corona crisis.

The Senate's strict stance also affects schools.

School Senator Ties Rabe (SPD) said he was assuming "that we will stay in the current mode (...) until the March vacation - unless the Prime Minister's Conference does something very unusual".

Hamburg is the only federal state to have two weeks vacation from the beginning of March.

"To put the entire school system on a new footing a week before the holidays is (...) for everyone involved only on paper," said Rabe.
