Mannheim (dpa / lsw) - Four people were injured in an apartment fire in Mannheim on Tuesday evening.

A 67-year-old man suffered burns to his arms and face and smoke inhalation, the police said.

Three women between the ages of 19 and 57 are also suspected of smoke poisoning.

All four were taken to the hospital.

One person was rescued from the balcony, it said.

According to the police, the fire broke out in an apartment on the ground floor.

The house and the adjacent semi-detached house in the Almenhof district are currently not habitable.

The total damage is estimated at 75,000 euros.

The cause of the fire is still unclear.
