Stralsund (dpa / mv) - With a tractor parade, farmers want to protest against new environmental regulations today in Western Pomerania.
Around 100 farmers from all over Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania with their large machines are expected in the Stralsund region.
The protest route should lead, among other things, to the constituency office of Chancellor Angela Merkel and the district office of Vorpommern-Rügen, where a rally is planned and petitions are to be handed over.
The reason for the protest is the "Insect Protection Action Program" planned by the Federal Government, which is to be passed in the Federal Cabinet this Wednesday.
This deprives farmers of even more agricultural land than before for the production of food, criticized the state farmers' association and the "Land creates connection" initiative in advance.
Further income losses threatened.
The farmers are also in favor of insect protection, explained the farmers' association, and therefore wanted to be involved.
Vehicle drivers must expect disabilities in the northeast of the state throughout the morning.
