Munich (dpa / lby) - The state government allows a small exception to the strict corona lockdown on Valentine's Day: flower shops are allowed to sell flowers on Sunday morning, even if only for collection in the so-called "Click & Collect" and without prior inspection of the shop.

The Ministry of Labor made this known in a new regulation that only applies to Valentine's Day.

Otherwise, people who want to adore a bouquet to their wife, girlfriend, boyfriend, husband, life partner or other loved one would have to rely on the flower from the gas station.

However, flower buyers should not get up too late, the florists have to close again at lunchtime.

"All sales outlets in Bavaria in which a large number of flowers are for sale may be open on Sunday, February 14, 2021 (Valentine's Day), from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. for the purpose of delivering flowers", it says in the exemption from the LadSchlG (shop closing law).

Valentine's Day is one of the most important days of the year for flower shops.

The Bavarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BIHK) would have preferred a one-day full opening of the flower shops.

BIHK general manager Manfred Gößl assessed the opening as a positive sign for the florist industry, which was hard hit.
