Hamburg (dpa / lno) - Northern Germany's wholesalers and foreign traders as well as service providers have demanded reliable perspectives in dealing with the corona pandemic.

«People need hope.

Our companies need structured opening concepts to end the lockdown, ”said the President of the AGA business association, Hans Fabian Kruse, on Tuesday at the association's first online annual meeting.

In addition, politics could help the economy by dispensing with restrictive laws.

"What we certainly do not need is a well-intentioned, but completely impractical supply chain law, a legal right to work from home or additional corporate criminal law," said Kruse.

Existential needs are offset by high infection and death rates.

"That is the reality we are confronted with."

There is uncertainty.

«But we will have to be patient.

That's what I'm promoting, "said Kruse.

In view of the many challenges, Kruse campaigned for more Europe.

Brexit went off relatively lightly.

"It jerks in the short term, but in the medium term it will probably level off, unfortunately at a lower level."

Kruse called the investment protection agreement between the European Union and China an attempt to achieve more reciprocity and planning security.

With a view to the change of power in the USA, Kruse said: "We hope that the transatlantic relationship will find calm waters again and that there will be decisive impulses for trade policy."
