  • At the corner of Ridder and Vercingétorix streets, Galia has just delivered its second residence for the Samusocial de Paris, which accommodates 37 housing units.

  • These accommodations are designed to preserve the privacy of each family, in particular with well-defined parent and child corners.

  • “We wanted to put our know-how at the service of emergency accommodation,” explains Brice Errera, president of the Galia group.

Combine practicality and aesthetics with urgency.

After the opening of a social residence in Montrouge (Hauts-de-Seine) last December, the real estate group Galia and the Samusocial de Paris have just created, after two years of work, another structure of the same caliber in Paris. , in the 14th arrondissement, for the most precarious families.

This second project named Ariane, which took shape in place of a former tertiary building rehabilitated and raised by the architecture agency CoBe, now offers over 1,580 m2, 37 housing units and common living spaces for residents.

Or to 37 families, often migrants, who had so far had no solutions.

Galia, a company specializing in property development, heritage development and hotels, has in fact decided to commit to more qualitative social accommodation for the most vulnerable people.

“We wanted to put our know-how at the service of emergency accommodation,” explains Brice Errera, president of the Galia group.

The goal ?

“Getting out of the gloomy aspect that certain centers can have.

Here, people can have time for two years to rest in good conditions and also time to get papers.

A story that began with a disappointment.

Kitchen, toilets and services

“We had met Samusocial during a call for tenders organized for a building sold by Orange rue de Navarin [in the 9th arrondissement].

We had to respond with emergency accommodation.

And be innovative.

We had lost but we had enjoyed working with Samusocial, ”explains Brice Errera.

Together, they asked themselves a question: What will be the face of the emergency accommodation center of tomorrow?

"While knowing that the situation is catastrophic and that people in a precarious situation are accommodated in prefecture hotels", abounds Brice Errera.

And to clarify: “You have to imagine a room that is 10-15 square meters with four people in it, often with a toilet and a bathroom on the landing and a very high turnover rate.

".

Galia and Samusocial then decided to embark on the Montrouge and 14th arrondissement project, at the corner of Ridder and Vercingétorix streets.

After several visits to accommodation centers in the region and meetings with residents, Galia and Samusocial have defined specifications to best meet expectations and needs.

Thus, these new residences are equipped with a kitchenette and toilets in each accommodation.

The apartment is also designed to allow a little more privacy.

Finally, common areas are located on the ground floor, such as offices for associations on site, laundry facilities, and security systems are also available within the building.

All with a "careful decoration".

"To rebuild in a rewarding environment"

"By combining social expertise and expertise in the design of real estate programs, the partnership between Samusocial de Paris and the Galia group is gradually building up a quality accommodation offer adapted to family life", assures Vanessa Benoit, general manager of Samusocial de Paris.

“These new forms of accommodation allow families to regain security and stability and to rebuild themselves in an environment that is rewarding for a self-esteem that is often undermined,” she adds.

After opening Ariane and the Montrouge building which mainly accommodates women who have suffered domestic violence, Galia, which has 30 projects in Paris, has other ongoing social programs.

The next step is to open a maternity hospital in rue du soleil (20th arrondissement), for women who are pregnant or have just given birth and who are in a precarious situation.

They will have their own bedroom, bathroom and kitchen and will have services on the ground floor.

Work will begin in September.
