Stuttgart (dpa / lsw) - In the south-west, the number of reported data breaches and complaints in the Corona year 2020 has increased significantly.

Last year, the highest state data protection officer, Stefan Brink, received over 2100 reports of breakdowns, which is an increase of around 300. In addition, there were 4800 complaints, around 1000 more than in 2019. There were fines of around 1.6 million euros imposed - more than ever, said Brink in his activity report on Monday.

In 2019 it was only 250,000 euros.

With the advancing digitization, the number of breakdowns is also increasing.

Examples are e-mails that are accidentally sent to the wrong address and the loss of sensitive data after hacker attacks.
