The foreign ministers of Egypt, Jordan and Iraq held a meeting yesterday of the tripartite coordination mechanism, at the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, to discuss developments in the joint cooperation path.

The Foreign Ministers expressed their satisfaction with what has been achieved during the past period, since the Amman Tripartite Summit in August 2020, and affirmed their countries ’commitment to continuing the approach of joint cooperation and close coordination in order to accelerate the implementation of strategic projects that are in the interest of the three countries and the interest of the region as a whole.

The spokesman for the Egyptian Foreign Ministry, Ambassador Ahmed Hafez, stated that the meeting also aimed at political consultation on the latest developments in the region, where visions were exchanged on the Palestinian issue and the peace process, and the situations in Syria, Yemen and Libya, and stressing the importance of reaching political solutions to conflicts From which these countries suffer, and to stop foreign interference in their affairs in order to be able to preserve their sovereignty, security and stability.

It was also agreed to strengthen joint efforts to combat terrorism, and to maintain security and stability in the region.

Hafez added, in a statement by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, that the meeting also stressed that Arab water security has an advanced priority, especially the challenges facing the water rights of Arab countries, and that the meeting affirmed support for the Arab position in this regard.

Yesterday, Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry received Ayman Safadi, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriate Affairs in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan at Tahrir Palace.

Ambassador Ahmed Hafez stated that the meeting of the two ministers dealt with emphasizing the fundamentals of the Arab position towards the Palestinian issue, and seeking to provide the necessary political climate to re-engage the Palestinian and Israeli sides in a serious negotiation track, especially in the context of the momentum generated by the successive meetings with the participation of Egypt and Jordan, both in the quadripartite framework with France and Germany, or the tripartite meeting with the Palestinian Foreign Minister in Cairo.

Hafez added that the meeting also witnessed a consensus of visions between the two sides regarding regional developments and issues of common concern, as it was stressed the need to stop all foreign interference in the affairs of Arab countries, and to uphold political solutions to all regional crises, in order to push towards consolidating security and stability, and preserving capabilities Peoples.

The meeting stressed that Arab water security is a high priority.
