Lübeck (dpa / lno) - Squalls from the east caused the Trave to overflow its banks in Lübeck and Travemünde on Monday.

The water levels were around 6.10 meters at noon, as a fire department spokesman said.

That is about 1.10 meters more than the normal water level.

This would flood the promenade in Travemünde and the street An der Obertrave in Lübeck in some places, he said.

According to the Federal Maritime and Hydrographic Agency (BSH), water levels of 80 centimeters to 1.10 meters above the mean water level can be expected for the entire Bay of Lübeck and Kiel even on Tuesday night.
