Hanover (dpa / lni) - Regional and long-distance traffic is only slowly getting underway again after the heavy onset of winter.

"Unfortunately, we still expect restrictions on Tuesday," said a railway spokeswoman on Monday.

Although local traffic was resumed on some routes in the afternoon - regional trains were running again between Bremen and Hanover - "but still very irregularly," said the spokeswoman.

In long-distance traffic, occasional trains again ran between Hamburg and Hanover - further south towards Kassel the route was still blocked by snow and ice.

Frozen switches, frozen overhead lines and snow drifts still make many routes impassable.

There have been many clearing drives, for example with snow blowers.

But due to the wind and persistent snowfall, railway lines were often closed again with snow a little later.

The train advised travelers to find out about connections on the Internet before starting their journey.
