Sudanese Prime Minister Abdullah Hamdok announced his new government, on Monday, which included appointing Gabriel Ibrahim, leader of the Justice and Equality Movement in Darfur, as Minister of Finance.

The new formation also included the appointment of Maryam Al-Sadiq Al-Mahdi, from the Umma Party, as Minister of Foreign Affairs.

In a press conference held at the headquarters of the Council of Ministers in Khartoum, Hamdok revealed the names of 25 ministers, noting that the name of the Minister of Education had not been announced for "further consultations."

Hamdok emphasized that the new government "is able to overcome the economic difficulties the country faces."

He said, "The new ministerial formation was based on political consensus and consultations that extended for months to keep the country from collapse."

He also made clear that the new formation is due to the peace agreement signed in Juba on October 3.

"We agreed on a (government) program that he will sign this week, and it addresses key issues," he added.
