Munich (dpa / lby) - After a lot of snow in parts of Germany, northern Bavaria is also expected to be affected by the onset of winter from Monday.

Classes are canceled in some regions.

The German Weather Service (DWD) warned of up to 25 centimeters of fresh snow in areas within twelve hours, especially in northern Bavaria.

Otherwise 10 to 15 centimeters of snow are possible.

Upper and lower Franconia are particularly affected.

South of the Danube, the DWD expects up to five centimeters of fresh snow, at higher altitudes and in the Alps above 800 meters locally with up to 10 centimeters.

The city and district of Schweinfurt as well as the district of Bad Kissingen reacted to the weather forecast: There the school will be canceled on Monday due to the weather, as could be read on the registration portal of the Bavarian Ministry of Culture on Sunday.

It was initially unclear whether other cities and districts would follow suit.
