(Fighting New Coronary Pneumonia) Indonesia extends the period for prohibiting foreigners from entering, adjusts community prevention and control measures

China News Agency, Jakarta, February 8th (Reporter Lin Yongchuan) Indonesian officials announced on the 8th that they will renew the implementation of the temporary epidemic prevention policy prohibiting foreigners from entering the country for two weeks, and adjust the "large-scale community restrictions" epidemic prevention and control measures.

To prevent the spread of the mutated new crown virus, Indonesia began implementing a temporary epidemic prevention policy that prohibits foreigners from entering the country on January 1, and has extended the implementation period of the policy twice to today.

As the epidemic situation has not improved, the country decided to continue to implement the policy from the 9th until the 22nd of this month.

According to the rules previously announced by the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, during the implementation of this policy, foreign nationals who take direct or transit commercial flights are prohibited from entering Indonesia.

However, foreigners holding a valid Indonesian diplomatic or official residence permit, foreigners holding a valid Indonesian limited residence permit or long-term residence permit, and members of foreign government delegations above the deputy ministerial level are not prohibited.

The above-mentioned foreign nationals who are permitted to enter the country should undergo nucleic acid testing when they arrive at the Indonesian port of entry and go to the place designated by the Ministry of Health of the country for a five-day intensive medical observation at their own expense.

On the same day, the leader of Indonesia’s national response to the new crown epidemic, Erlangka, announced that it had already started in the six provinces of Jakarta, Banten, West Java, East Java, Central Java, Yogyakarta and Yogyakarta on the island of Java last month. The “large-scale community restriction” measures implemented by Bali Province have been adjusted.

The original prevention and control measures included 75% of office workers working at home, carrying out online teaching, shopping malls and shopping centers closed at 19:00 every day, catering establishments only allowed 25% of the maximum capacity for dining, religious places limited the maximum capacity of 50% activities, and cessation of all public Entertainment and cultural activities, limiting public transportation capacity, etc.

After the adjustment, 50% of office workers are allowed to work at home, shopping malls and shopping centers are relaxed to 21 o'clock every day, and catering establishments allow up to 50% of dine-in capacity.

Other prevention and control measures remain unchanged.

According to Erlangka, the adjusted measures will increase the "micro" prevention and control efforts, establish village-level and street-level new crown epidemic handling working groups, strengthen the implementation of village and street epidemic prevention and sanitation regulations, and increase the monitoring of new crown-positive patients. Contact tracing and isolation efforts strive to stop the spread of the virus at the village and street level.

Indonesian officials reported on the afternoon of the 8th that there were 8242 new confirmed cases of new coronary pneumonia in the country that day, with a total of 1166079 confirmed cases; 207 new deaths and a total of 31763 deaths.
