SVT has talked to students around Sweden about what their school meals look like during the pandemic.

Friskolan Prolympia in Gävle has its school canteen in the premises that function Skybar during Brynäs' home matches in ice hockey.

When the pandemic struck, the school management took various measures to avoid congestion in the school canteen.

Spreads out in the arena

In the end, they decided to divide the classes so that the elementary and middle school eat in the arena entrance and the high school in the regular school canteen.

- This means that we can spread ourselves in a completely different way and the upper secondary school gets more space in the school canteen, says Göran Larsson, principal at Prolympia.

The school has a low infection among students and has avoided major cluster infections.

- I think it has gone well.

We keep our distance and wash our hands.

It would have felt strange not to do it now, says middle school student Albin Bäcklin.

The pandemic has affected students' school meals throughout the country, SVT's review shows, but the problems and thus the solutions look different in different places.

In some places, alternative premises have been opened in the larger schools, but few have such unique conditions as the Prolympia.

Student: "Hard to imagine a life without distance"

The menu at the school is almost unchanged.

The students at Prolympia that SVT Gävleborg has been in contact with say that the food is the same as before but with slightly fewer dishes.

- The difference is that we keep our distance.

We sit four and four at the tables.

It's hard to imagine a life without distance now, says Nike Bondesson, a student at Prolympia.
