Police officers from Police Commissioner 36 (PK 36) arrested a 28-year-old man in the Bramfeld district of Hamburg on Sunday evening who is suspected of killing his mother and another, as yet unidentified person.

As a police spokeswoman said, relatives had alerted the police after the 53-year-old mother did not return home after visiting her son and could not be reached on her cell phone.

Suspect son opened the door to officials

A police car crew then drove to the son's apartment.

According to the spokeswoman, he also opened the apartment door and let the police in.

"In the apartment, the officers found his mother's body, which had multiple knife wounds," said the police spokeswoman.

The alleged criminal record was found in the apartment and secured.

The crisis intervention team (KIT) of the German Red Cross took care of the family members.

In the course of the investigation, police officers also discovered another body in the apartment.

"The measures to identify the person and the cause of death continue," it said.

The homicide squad is conducting the investigation, which, according to the police, continued on Monday.

"The suspect was taken to a judge today who issued an arrest warrant against the man on suspicion of two homicides," the spokeswoman said.

Identification of the second body difficult

As WELT learned, the suspect was already considered psychologically abnormal.

"We are still at the very beginning with the investigation," said the public prosecutor's office, Nana Frombach.

No witnesses have yet been heard at police headquarters.

Nevertheless, there were initial interviews at the scene of the crime and the affected family.

However, she did not want to comment on the statements of the witnesses.

The condition of the second body is also unclear.

According to media reports, the body, like that of the mother, is currently being examined at the Institute of Forensic Medicine.

One result of the identification is still pending, which turns out to be difficult.

The corpse may have been in the apartment for a long time or the perpetrator had brutally beaten it.
