Berlin (dpa) - The chairman of the German Ethics Council, Alena Buyx, has spoken out against free choice of the corona vaccine.

"Now is not the time to express extra requests," Buyx told the Rheinische Post.

At the moment there is still a great shortage and an enormous organizational challenge.

As soon as the vaccine shortage is over, everyone should be able to choose their vaccine, Buyx continues.

With the vaccine from the British-Swedish manufacturer Astrazeneca, which was delivered for the first time in Germany this weekend, three vaccines are now available in the EU.

While the agents from Moderna and Biontech have an effectiveness of 94 and 95 percent, according to a new study at Astrazeneca it is only 76 percent after the first vaccination - and up to 82 percent after the second.

Some nurses are said to fear two-tier vaccinations if they get Astrazeneca.

The chairwoman of the German Ethics Council also campaigned for understanding for the weariness of the corona measures.

"I think the frustration comes on the one hand from the fact that the lockdown has been going on for so long and - let's be honest - it is currently a little joyful life."

She therefore pleads for more positive communication in the pandemic.

A debate that only focuses on negatives is not helpful.

"Criticism and debate are very important, but we also need a little confidence to persevere."
