Berlin (dpa / bb) - The corona vaccinations in Berlin should continue as planned despite the winter weather.

So far, there are no known effects on the work in the three existing vaccination centers due to sub-zero temperatures and snowfalls, said their spokeswoman Regina Kneiding on Monday.

Around 3,000 people are currently being vaccinated every day.

A fourth vaccination center will be added on Wednesday on the site of the former Tegel Airport.

A test on Saturday went well, said Kneiding.

The plan is to use the vaccine from the British-Swedish manufacturer Astrazeneca in Tegel.

Of these, 14,400 cans arrived in Berlin on Saturday.

This vaccine is only given to people under the age of 65.

So far, vaccination centers have been open in the Arena-Halle in Treptow, in the Erika-Heß-Eisstadion in Wedding and on the exhibition grounds under the radio tower.
