The municipally owned Miljöteknik, which delivers the drinking water in Ronneby, is sued by the PFAS association, which has gathered 165 private individuals who are plaintiffs in the dispute.

The background is that poly- and perfluorinated alkyl acids, PFAS, which are found in fire-fighting foam, among other things, from Blekinge air flotilla F17 were found in Kallinge's drinking water in December 2013.

Was suspended

The trial was scheduled to begin in Blekinge District Court on September 10.

But after being postponed, when the municipality submitted new evidence, it was resumed on Monday, February 8.

- We have struggled with this since the beginning of 2014 and then it disappeared for almost another six months of time.

It feels good that now our story will be presented in the district court, says the PFAS association's chairman Herman Afzelius.

The trial is expected to last 11 days.

"Processing at a higher level"

But according to Ronneby municipality, it is not certain that the issue of liability will be finally decided in the district court.

According to the municipality, it may instead be taken on to the Court of Appeal and possibly the Supreme Court.

- In this particular case, there are a number of interesting issues of principle.

I do not see it as out of the question that this will be processed at a higher level, says the municipal board chairman Roger Fredriksson (M).
