"We were surprised to get acquainted with Borrell's assessments of the results of the visit, they contrast strongly with his statements given at a press conference in Moscow," TASS quoted the diplomatic agency as saying.

It is noted that Borrell "had every opportunity to immediately give his own assessment" of the visit at the final press conference with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, which was done.

“Perhaps, upon arrival in Brussels, the head of Euro-diplomacy was explained how it was necessary to place accents, but then this only confirms how and by whom the EU policy is actually formed,” the Foreign Ministry added.

Borrell's visit to Moscow took place on February 4-6.

During his stay in the Russian capital, Borrell met with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov.

Earlier, Borrell admitted that the imposition of sanctions against Russia would be discussed at the meeting of the heads of European foreign ministries.
