Altenberg (dpa) - Francesco Friedrich won his seventh two-man bobsleigh world championship title in a row in the German triple success and is now the sole record winner with his tenth world championship coup.

No bobsleigh pilot in the 91-year history of the World Cup has achieved this before him.

On his home track in Altenberg, he was not deterred by the snow chaos or the world's elite.

With four best start and run times and an equalized start record of 5.11 seconds, the double Olympic champion from BSC Sachsen Oberbärenburg with pusher Alexander Schüller was 2.05 seconds ahead of second placed Johannes Lochner / Eric Franke.

World Cup debutant Hans-Peter Hannighofer raced with Christian Röder past the Swiss Michael Vogt in third place.

Christoph Hafer and Christian Hammers completed the strong German performance at the start of the World Cup with seventh place.
